Jock Wilson

John  Richardson Wilson memoirs were published by his daughter.  Dr Elisabeth Wilson, as "A Berwick Boyhood between the Wars ; the memoirs of Jock Wilson".

"Jock" was the younger son of Alderman Thomas Wilson, a councillor and mayor for the Liberal Party.  "Jock" was the third of four children, although his only sister died as an infant leaving three boys. He was Methodist, 

Jock held held pacifist views since 13. At tribunal, Rev A McDonald, minister of Berwick Methodist church, spoke for him. He said he would definitely not work under military control.  His brother Graham held opposite views.  Graham served in the army medical corps in th war,  while Jock went to work for the YMCA in Edinburgh.

Jock was a wonderful musician and he organied a concert for Red Cross. He was voluntary organist and church worker, and became a Methodist minister.

Jock maintained his pacifist position that war is wrong all his life. During the Cold War, he was part of an exchange programme between clergymen ministers in western and eastern Europe. 

Jock passed away in Passed away 1982. Elisabeth reflected he would have rejoiced to see peaceful reunification in Germany, the culmination of so much peace campaigning in places like Leipzig.
