Barry Mills, a member of Northerb Friends Peace Board, began collating data about Conscientious Objectors from World War 2 during the Covid pandemic. Although there are records of many "COs" with organsations like the Peace Pledge Union, and an extensive database of WWI CO’s complied by Cyril Pearce, there is no single consolidated database of WW2 conscientious objectors.
Barry scoured online sources and visited libraries and archives to find records. Tribunals in particular were often reported in the press, although this practice varied around the country. Barry recorded the source for the data for each record, which you can read about on this website.
