Pond, Conrad George, (34), 27 Church Rd, Tipsley (Herefordshire ),Jehovah Witness  9 years & became f/t gospel minister in 1938, had covenant  & believed they were doing great work by preaching, registered CO & given ARP, would only do voluntary fire watch, his appeal was rejected & he was removed  from CO list, refused medical 8/41 & 14/11/41, at interviews 10/41 refused  medical  as JW CO, Hereford City Police Court 19/1/42 fined 20s & ordered for medical, refused to pay fine so 7 days prison, next day 20/1 still refused medical so given prison 3 months, Kington Times 24/1/42 p4; Pond, Conrad George, Valla Cottage, Bugbrooke (Northants), Jehovah Witness f/t minister, would not break Covenant with God, CO rejected by tribunals, had served 3 months prison for refusing medical after conviction 1/43, newspaper report not found but at second Appellate tribunal will have been accepted as a CO subject to a work condition , which he would refuse as an absolutist CO, wrote to the Magistrates threatening that those who denied his right to be a full time minister ‘will become answerable to God’, Northampton Divisional Court 28/4/43 prison 3 months for not complying with a work direction from a National Services officer, Northampton Mercury 30/4/43 p5
